This month we’ve had some proper film time and trying to entertain ourselves, while I rest and recover.

Satanic Panic

A pizza delivery girl at the end of her financial rope has to fight for her life – and her tips – when her last order of the night turns out to be high society Satanists in need of a virgin sacrifice. Samantha is hired as a pizza delivery man. When, at the end of her first working day – at night – she delivers an order to a mansion in a wealthy neighborhood on his scooter, the jerk who receives the pizza does not tip her. Enraged by this, Samantha bursts into the house and finds herself in the coven, where a wealthy elite performs a mysterious ritual with her priestess (Rebecca Romijn). When Satanists discover that Samantha is still a virgin, they drug her and lock her in a room. They need a virgin to offer her up as a sacrifice. However, Samantha escapes, and then, dressed in ritual red clothes, the followers of Satan follow her in pursuit.

Love it, it’s just camp, daft and gory and funny. Excellent light easy to watch movie, I obviously love the occult topic.

Rebel Moon Part 1

When a peaceful settlement on the edge of a distant moon finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors – outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.

I’m not a syfy lover usually, but I really really enjoy Rebel Moon and the world building it’s created. I know there is a part 2 which we will watch next, but I hope they do some more.

Rebel Moon Part 2

Kora and surviving warriors prepare to defend Veldt, their new home, alongside its people against the Realm. The warriors face their pasts, revealing their motivations before the Realm’s forces arrive to crush the growing rebellion.

Awesome we are back with our Rebels, my favourite character is the antler wearing robot, he’s so cute!!

Late Night Devil

The film’s prologue is framed as a documentary investigating an unexplained event that occurred on October 31, 1977 during the live broadcast of the sixth season episode of Night Owls with Jack Delroy, a successful variety late-night talk show that competes for ratings with The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

Through his television connections, Night Owls host Jack Delroy makes regular visits to “The Grove”, an elite California camp for rich and powerful men. Sometime later, his wife Madeleine contracts terminal lung cancer despite being a non-smoker and dies, her death having a major effect on Jack as Night Owls halts its production. Jack ultimately returns but the show does not attain the same level of success. Even before she died, an episode featuring Madeleine telling her cancer story doesn’t boost ratings to match Carson’s. In order to recover his rating, Jack decides to do a special occultism-themed episode on Halloween night at the show’s Manhattan studio. The rest of the film comprises salvaged footage from the episode along with behind-the-scenes additions.

I LOVED the angle of the film, the styling and ‘ghostwatch’ way of framing it. But I had wanted something more sinister, and creepier. However I thoroughly enjoyed it..

Fallout Series

In a future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles brought about by nuclear decimation, citizens must live in underground bunkers to protect themselves from radiation, mutants and bandits.

I’m not a gamer so I had no prior exposure to Fallout, and I’m not particularly a SyFy lover either, but I absolutely LOVED this series, the main actress I know from Yellow jackets. The plot, the music, the characters just sucked me in and kept me so entertained I already can’t wait for series 2. A perfect hit.
